Ufone Telecom network company decided to participate in 4G spectrum auction.

The next generation 3G 4G spectrum auction will be held on 16th May. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has made the auction for upgraded mobile services.

Information of Memorandum announced that all the telecom network companies will participate in Next Generation Mobile Services  (NGMS) auction. NGMS is the new entry in the Mobile markets. The Numbering resources may also use for Next Generation Mobile Services. If anyone wants to have a separate number for NGMS, they shall be allocated from the National Numbering Plan. The New operators can request for the new numbering series.

A senior Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) stated that,

There is no chance of a new telecom operator/entrant as the market is already consolidating. While PTA has sought applications through national and international media for the upcoming spectrum auction, it is highly unlikely for a new player to join the spectrum auction.

According to the sources, they said only Ufone will participate in the NGMS auction. They also confirmed that Pakistan and UAE discussed all the matter. The Finance Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar convinced the UAE to take a part of the NGMS auction.

Still, there is no confirmation report from the Ufone company that they will participate in the auction or not. According to Mobilink, it is the largest telecom company in Pakistan they won’t need 4G spectrum. Zong may be go for the auction and buy 4G spectrum. Zong company already have 4G spectrum and they don’t need any additional spectrum for atleast one year.
