Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority(PEMRA) warned on Zong and Oppo’s TV Advertisement.


Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) are objection on Zong and Oppo’s advertisement on Television.

Zong is the largest network in Pakistan, PEMRA issued a noticed to Zong and Oppo smartphone manufacturer for indecent scenes in their ads on TV. They noticed that adds do not align with Pakistan culture. In this ad shows, the female models acting in inappropriate clothes. This has been the reason, PEMRA complaints against the Oppo advertisement.

On the other side, Zong shows the ad Zong 4G TVC, they shows that group of boys and girls playing cricket together and ball is hitting a guy between his legs.

According to the PEMRA, they noticed to both companies for scene depiction and inappropriate clothe, these ads are not for our cultural. These ads show on February 20, 2017 and PEMRA would ban these ads according to section 24 which states,

The Authority shall by order in writing, giving reasons therefore, prohibit any broadcast media or distribution service operator from broadcasting or re-broadcasting or distributing any programme or advertisement if it is of the opinion that such particular programme or advertisement is against the ideology of Pakistan or is likely to create hatred among the people or is prejudicial to the maintenance of law and order or is likely to disturb public peace and tranquility or endangers national security or is pornographic, obscene or vulgar or is offensive to the commonly accepted standards of decency.
