The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom (MoITT) and Universal Service Fund (USF) signed with Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) for establishing Computer Labs in Rural area’s Girls schools.
Minister of State for IT Anusha Rehman and Minister of State for CADD Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, CEO USF, Mr Haaris M. Chaudhary, and General Manager, Microsoft, Miss Leila Serhan also present at the agreement meeting. MOU was signed on the agreement with Finance Minister Ishaq Dar.
The agreement between USF and Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) and training more than 90 teachers for computer labs by Microsoft.
According to the agreement, the trained human resources will be provided in rural Islamabad Capital territory. The selected school including primary, middle level and secondary schools. They also teach to students at the schools and teach related IT careers.
The Minister of State of Information Technology and Telecommunication, Anusha Rehman said,
ICT is the lever of economic progress. We are using this lever to empower the girls from the marginalised sections of society. Through this initiative, we aim to help approximately 33,000 girls’ students, enrolled in these institutions, by making them computer literate and bringing them at par with students elsewhere in the world.
The Financce Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar appreciated for the great efforts of Microsoft, Ministry, Universal service Fund, Capital Administration and Development Division. He also said about the IT park, now established in Islamabad, IT Park help in loan from Korean EXIM Bank.
